With foundations being an integral part of essentially all the infrastructure that we build, PKF-Mark III (“PKF”) has long self-performed this vital component of our work. Foundations we have built support vital infrastructure in our region, including bridges, water/wastewater plants, sign structures, and utility poles.
Experience
With experienced personnel and largely PKF-owned equipment, PKF has demonstrated excellence in varied pile construction including steel, concrete, wood, and plastic, all as designed for specific applications. PKF’s expertise in piling includes varied driving including percussive and vibratory means, as well as the drilling of micro-piles. PKF likewise has extensive experience in placing sheeting both as temporary support of excavations and/or cofferdams, and as permanent sheeted walls with tiebacks and whalers as necessary.
PKF also excels in the drilling of caissons ranging in diameters up to and including 12’, and to depths exceeding 125’. Our experience with caissons is extensive on water and through varied soils including rock. PKF’s experience further includes several means of maintaining drilled shaft excavations including via temporary and/or permanent casing as well as via wet/polymer shafts. Casing installation experience includes driving, vibration, drilling, and oscillation.
PKF owns and rents a substantial fleet of barges suitable for construction within waterways. In addition, our uniquely stout and efficient steel trestle provides outstanding and cost effective means of accessing areas where temporary crane support or delivery needs warrant.
Additional Services
Additional services that PKF offers within the foundations and marine realms, include internal designs of temporary support of earth and partnerships with external designers to complete permanent applications, specific low headroom placement of foundations, maintenance or placement of bridge protective dolphins and fenders, and bridge architectural, structural, or mechanical maintenance and repair that is accessed via land or water.
