PKF was contracted by the NJDOT to construct the first phase of its ten-year Rt. 42/295 Direct Connect Program. PKF’s portion includes seven bridges. Founded generally upon steel piles, bridges include a combination of cast-in-place and precast columns, cast-in-place caps, and structural steel superstructures. Phasing of traffic and construction is substantial and critical. Other substantial work on the project includes site/civil, ground improvements, mechanically stabilized earth walls, asphalt paving, signage, and guiderails. The project also includes substantial highway lighting and intelligent transportation systems.
